Boston Pics

Big Screen

Not one to be lacking a view, I am using the hotels 37" TV as a laptop monitor while I am Looking For Supper. Here is a close up of small region of downtown Boston and the Chinese restaurant list I have created Map Close-up (I ate Indian that night). Later, my son instant messages me while I am watching the NASA channel so I split the screen on the TV so I can message back and not miss the recent NASA orbit footage (day 14). Here is a close up view.

Bushel of Apples

Then I discovered the Apple store. It was very impressive looking in the evening with it all lit up inside and a glass front. From the sidewalk outside the openness is very clear! I was really amazed at the cool glass spiral staircase locate right in the middle of the store. When I walked up to the top third floor I just could not help but take this picture looking down thru the glass spiral staircase. I affectionately call the picture "The Big Apple Core".

My Supper Buddy

One of the places I ate was Kashmir, an Indian restaurant with patio seating. While there, I had a dinner guest visit and join me. He was very friendly and very typical of others I had met there.

Monkey Business

I really enjoyed the wide range of building architecture in Boston. So many people living here have made such great effort to the details. Here someone was monkeying around. Did you see the gorilla on the patio?

Interesting!

I also find it interesting that the store owners do some every artistic things in their store windows. Here the Anthropologie store caught my eye. The art in the left window is made of rectangles made from corrugated cardboard boxes and paint. The art in the right window is made from pine 1x2 lumber and paint. While looking over some of the residences here I found this electric car. I found three of these on one street.

Architectural Interests

As I mentioned earlier, I like architecture. And I just could not resist capturing a few pictures of some interesting buildings. Can you find the really tall building here? Look carefully, its camouflaged!  Or how about this picture of three buildings all near each other, late 1600, 1800, and 2000. Another look at the new building in the background at street level looking up. Very impressive! And of course, the Marriot I stayed at while in Boston.

Neighborhood to Business District Transformation

While walking the neighborhood I could not believe the fine details in the building like artistic early century wrought iron work. And I mean REAL wrought iron. Stepping back here is typical residence living found throughout the downtown area. And here is a typical set of building converted for business. Corner businesses are nice.

Neighborhood Ideas

You will not find walkways this wide around where I live.

From my hotel window I found almost every roof in the area had some form of alternate living space. Check out this roof patio, nice.
